Dartmouth 1965
40th Reunion: June 13-16, 2005

Hey ’65, ready for a Hanover road trip?

Do you remember those heady days of September 1961, when we had just picked up our very own ceramic beer mug from the Co-op along with the rather stylish green beanie?  Just when you began feeling really great, some upper classman demanded you help move furniture.

Hold that thought and slowly fast forward to June 1965.  If there are those among you who have forgotten some of the friends and events of that era, this letter is for you.  And if there are those among you who might enjoy a few springtime days in Hanover with classmates you may not have known particularly well, this letter is also for you.

As you probably know by now, the great Class of 1965 will celebrate the 40th anniversary of our graduation, June 13-16 2005, in Hanover.  Many of us still remember Robert Frost’s visit with our Class and listening to him talk about those forks in the road through the woods.  We’re still on the road, and isn’t it great?

The only things more fascinating than the stories of your travels are those of your sophomore class roommate.  Your classmates want your help.  The tales of your travels are in demand.  You have the opportunity to tell your story and, perhaps more importantly, hear other equally interesting ones at the 40th.

Further, there is the possibility to share some camaraderie with less-known classmates.  We have diverse and interesting folks among our number, and this is a chance to have some fun with new friends.  Our time together will no doubt have its own special meaning as we share perspectives and good cheer.

Our reunion begins with registration on Monday (June 13) and ends with a farewell breakfast on Thursday (June 16).  In between, there will be thought-provoking seminars, mini-Alumni College presentations, great entertainment, good food, ample drink and unbelievable conversations.

The world premier of the Class of 65 Players’ potentially award-winning performance is one of the many special events.  There will be singing at the tent, the odd beer will be consumed and more than one perhaps slightly exaggerated story told.

The reunion committee has been hard at work to develop a memorable experience.  We need your input to make finishing touches to the program.  With the enclosed response card, let us know what you would like to talk about, what you would like to learn, and what games you would like to play.

As an example, we have set aside Wednesday afternoon for special interest group gatherings: teams, fraternities, senior societies, clubs, majors…all are possible gatherings.  The College can give us the contact coordinates for over 200 special interest groups.  All we need is for you with interest to serve as a convener.

The most important ingredient is you.  Your presence is not only requested, it is required by your classmates.  You need to be in Hanover next June.  Log it into your calendars.  Tell your friends and family you will be…Still On the Road!

Please return the enclosed response card so we can better prepare an event for the ages.

See you in Hanover.

Pete & Roger
