Mike,

Finally, I'm getting the summit photos to you from the Mt. Washington race on June 21.  You look a lot fresher than I do -- of course, you had been waiting for me a number of minutes, and had time to compose yourself!

If you use one of these photos in the Class Newsletter, be sure you also give yourself credit for a quick time up the mountain -- 1:52:38, which was 7/18 in age group 60-64.  My 2:07:04 was better than last year, and good enough for 12/18 in our age group.  Maybe if I lose a few pounds, next year can be quicker.

One of the things that surprised me is that how rapidly participation in this race drops off with age.  There were 58 finishers in the 50-59 men's age group this year, but only 18 in 60-64, and 18 in 65-69.  That is a real watershed of sorts.

My host in North Conway, Sally Swenson, took first place in the 60-64 women's group, but there was only one other runner in that group!

So we've got to hang on while we can!

It was really enjoyable meeting you and Betsy.  Let's hope we can do it again next year -- are you game?

Best wishes,

Tom
