Jock Hosmer

John W. Hosmer, Jr. (Jock) '65, died tragically on December 8, 2000 at the age of 57 in a traffic accident in the Boston area. Jock was active for many years in various capacities on behalf of his class, including having served as Class President from 1982-1985 and as Head Agent from 1975-1977, for which he received the Chairman's Citation for Outstanding Performance.

Jock was named Senior Vice President of the Cambridge Savings Bank in 1988, and additionally had been an independent consultant since 1992. Jock had made a career of banking since receiving his MBA from UNH in 1970.

At Dartmouth, Jock was on the Ski Team, Rifle Team, and a member of the Dartmouth Outing Club Executive Board. He participated in Army ROTC and was a member of Alpha Chi Alpha, while majoring in Anthropology. After graduation, Jock served in the Army for two years as a Lieutenant, then served as Sports Information Director at UNH while working on his MBA.

Jock was born in Manhattan, Kansas, was raised in Northfield, Vermont, and graduated from Newburyport HS in Massachusetts before attending Dartmouth. He is survived by his wife Ann and son John III (Trip).
